Sarawak the Fifth Time

I came here to Kuching for holidays since I got approximately 2 month of holidays. Luckily the hotel provides a Wifi service so that I can online and keep my Facebook updated.

This is actually my fifth time coming to Kuching. We came here just to enjoy the food here. The food are mostly awesome and mouthwatering.

Top Spot which is a Seafood Food Court is located on a rooftop of a building and served a wide variety of seafood from fishes to shellfishes, from prawns to cuttlefishes. On the first day we arrived at Kuching, we as usual tried the stall number 25 (Bukit Mata). We had our break fast here. Our menu for today was ikan jenahak masak bersambal, butter prawns, sotong goreng tepung, sup ketam & midin masak belacan. What is midin? It's a special pucuk paku which can only be found at Sarawak. You couldn't find it in the Peninsular. It was crunchy.


Yesterday, we had sahur and buka puasa buffet at the hotel. Which hotel? Harbour View Hotel. It's located near the waterfront and also the Top Spot. Parkson, Hilton Hotel, Tunes Hotel and The Hills Shopping Complex are also located nearby.

I managed to watch a movie here with my classmates, Ridhwan and Fairuz. They came to pick me up at the hotel and then we went to The Spring shopping mall to watch The Grown Ups at MBO. The movie was very very very *ala Mrs. Phoong* funny and hilarious, We laughed from the beginning the the movie ended. It was actually worth it watching this movie in the cinema. Actually, we were planning to watch Step Up 3D initially, but the shows were all full and the only available show was at 12 am!

We went to Serikin, which is a shopping area like Wang Kelian. Many local and foreign traders set the stalls here to sell their stuffs like bags, cloths, fruits, tikar, tudung saji, curtain, periuk, senduk kayu etc.


Last night, we had a quick stroll at Kg. Boyan which is located along the riverside. There's a lot of children playing mercun an bunga api while the adults were performing Terawih prayer at the surau nearby. Dam dam dum, bunyi mercun.. Lalalala~ We bought several kek lapis here.

Marilah Mengerjakan Umrah

Umrah ni sebenarnya wajib dikerjakan sekurang2nya sekali dalam seumur hidup. Walaupun I dah beberapa kali jugalah pergi menunaikan ibadah umrah di Makkah, tetapi pada setiap kali lawatan, pengalaman yg diperoleh berbeza2..

Madinah al-Munawarah

Seperti kebiasaanya, jemaah akan dibawa bermalam ke Madinah dulu selama 3 hari untuk mengunjungi dan beribadah di masjid nabi iaitu Masjid Nabawi.

Cuaca sgt panas dalam lingkungan 45-52 darjah Celsius. Malam2 juga agak panas dan bahang. Jalan kaki ke masjid tak sah kalau tak berpeluh. Tapi alhamdulillah, Masjid Nabawi is fully air-conditioned. Solat 5 waktu plus Terawih wajib ditunaikan di masjid kerana pahalanya adalah 1000 kali ganda lebih dari masjid2 biasa. So, I tak nak lepaskan peluang untuk mengumpul pahala untuk beribadat kepada Allah swt.

Antara tempat yg kami lawati ialah Masjid Quba', Masjid Qiblatain, Jabal Uhud, Makan Penghulu Syuhada, Medan Peperangan Khandaq serta shopping2 di pasar kurma.

Makkah al-Mukaramah

Cuaca di kota suci Makkah juga lebih kurang dgn Madinah cuma malamnya agak kurang panas berbanding Madinah.

Pada hari pertama tiba di Makkah, kami telah bermiqat di Bir Ali untuk memasang niat umrah. Kami sekeluarga mengerjakan umrah pada jam 11 malam kerana kami tiba di Makkah agak lewat. Biasanya, ibadah umrah (tawaf + saie) akan mengambil masa selama 2 jam.

Solat di Masjidil Haram pahalanya 10000 ganda lebih daripada masjid2 biasa. Jadi semua peluang yang ada digunakan sepenuhnya untuk beribadah dalam Masjidil Haram.

Masjidil Haram memang akan sentiasa penuh dgn jemaah terutama sekali pada waktu solat fardhu. Solat Jumaat pula lebih penuh daripada biasa. Even datang awal sejam pun dapat duduk kat ruang berjalan je, tak dapat solat atas karpet.

Lawatan di Makkah termasuklah ke Jabal Thur, Jabal Nur, Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina dan Masjid Ja'ranah di mana kami telah bermiqat untuk mengerjakan umrah pada kali kedua.

Selang 2 hari, kami meneruskan lawatan ke Ladang Unta dan Masjid Hudaibiyah utk bermiqat untuk mengerjakan umrah buat kali ketiga. Kami sepatutnya dibawa melawat ke Muzium Haramain tetapi perangai driver bus yang agak annoying, kami terpaksa membatalkan lawatan ke muzium terbabit. Biasalah, orang arab memang generally kasar, degil dan kepala batu.

Pihak Tabung Haji menyediakan makanan Malaysia semasa kunjungan kami ke tanah haram. Walau bagaimanapun, makanan tempatan juga wajib dicoba seperti nasi Arab, nasi briyani, ayam masala, mutton masala, shawarma dan juga aiskrim 2 riyal. Sedap2 makanan tu.. Nyum nyum~

Pada hari terakhir, kami dibawa melawat di sekitar Jeddah iaitu ke Masjid Terapung sebelum kami semua ke airport untuk pulang ke Malaysia.

*pada tahun 2003, kami terserempak dgn Siti Nurhaliza di airport Jeddah.. pada tahun ini pula, anak Datuk K yang sulung pula mengerjakan umrah bersama Tabung Haji. Ada jugalah terserempak dgn dia & kawan2 dia kat sana..

Buy the necessary things only. My aims were achieved today which were to get a new pair of Jeans and slippers from Padini Concept Store. We bought our food for buka puasa as well. Lukman shopped a lot today! Even though he didn't plan it..

7.30 pm - Buka puasa with take-away Kenny Rogers at Lukman's house
We ate as quickly as possible and after that we went to IMU.



8.15 pm - Went to IMU to watch M208 'The Kampung Boys' Stage Play
Even though I received negative feedback during the rehearsal, the real play was definitely awesome and full of comedy! Congrats to all my friends from M208 for your wonderful performances! The band + drama + dances + cultures are all superb!

The sushi Lukman and I bought from Jusco this time tasted not as good as it used to be. Maybe it was prepared by a new cook. It's oversour! Maybe too much vinegar.. Lol..


12.00 am - Drove back to Shah Alam with sleepy eyes.. lol
