Within One Year

Assalamualaikum & Salam 1 Malaysia.

I had spent my one year in UK not only focused on study, but also grabbed a chance to travel around UK and Europe. Once your are in Europe, you can easily gain access to enter other European countries such as the most popular France, Spain, Italy and also many others. They don't require visas by the way. Some of trips were planned by ourselves while some were through travel agent (but we rarely used travel agent since travelling on our own is more convenient and we can do whatever we want).

Here are the summary of my travel log during my one year in United Kingdom. :)

It was really an awesome experience. One day if you get the chance to visit these beautiful countries, please appreciate your moment there. I really miss these places. Alhamdulillah, for giving me the chance to step my feet into these beautiful countries.. :)

New Life

Alhamdulillah, it has been already four day since I entered my working place which is Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru. Living 4 hours away from my family is not a problem, it just that I need to adapt to this new condition. Right now, I'm staying with my grandma which is quite good since I can teman her since she has been living alone for some time.

Working as a provisionally registered pharmacist (PRP) can be quite tough. Since we are not yet a fully registered pharmacist (FRP), we has one year of training to learn how to work properly especially in clinical area. As an MPharm student, we are lacking of practical aspect. We learned UK system instead of Malaysia. Thus, I need to learn more from my fellow PRPs who learned from local universities. They have a lot of advantages.

We also need to sit for forensic exam which I'm not very familiar with. The local students sat this exam before so I hope they can help me get through this.

There are 3 other PRPs who started working the same day I did. We have Cecilia, Shinee and fellow 'Shah Alam'ian, Vithya. They are very nice! Nice to meet you guys! :)

 

The first two days in hospital, I was busy settling all the forms and documents. I need to register for KWSP, so one day I went out with Vithya to the city. It was raining heavily that time.

On Thursday, I was busy with indentation. I started my PRP with manufacturing dept, so Encik Wee become my preceptor. He taught me how to handle dangerous drugs like morphine, fentanyl, midazolam etc and also how to document them. I need to be more careful as any mistakes I did might harm the patient.

Yesterday I was quite relax. Firstly, I helped Wee to count the stocks in the DD room. Then I helped Kak Khairul and Kak Yus to pack sodium chloride powder into 1 gram packs. After Friday prayer, we had a talk in the meeting room. Since accredation is coming soon, we need to be prepared for interrogation by the surveyors. Hehehe..

Aidilfitri Tahun Ini

Walaupun dah nak masuk Hari Raya Haji, tapi still nak tulis pasal Aidilfitri yang lalu. Maklumlah, banyak entri bertimbun2 so banyak la yang agak ketinggalan sebenarnya. Entri pasal travel pun belum habis lagi, tapi terpaksa selang-selikan dengan non-travel entri. So apa yang berbeda untuk Aidilfitri tahun ni??

For the very first time of my life, tahun ni paling banyak pergi beraya kat rumah kawan2. Sebelum2 ni memang tak pergi beraya rumah kawan ye. Sebab malas drive kot ye? Dan juga tak banyak jemputan open house. Tapi tahun ni lebih meriah. Mungkin sebab kitorang semua baru habis study dan banyak masa terluang kot? Ke sebab memang aku tak ramai kawan? Hahaha...

Selain pergi rumah kawan2, rumah saudara-mara juga adalah wajib ye although tahun ni tak dapat banyak duit raya sangat. Maklumlah dah nak kerja kan. Hehe.. Selepas 4 bulan pun still menganggur ape kes??

Meh sini kita tengok apa yang kawan2 aku masak.. Hehehe..

Sipot

Pada suatu malam, secara random ajak Emie pergi beraya kat rumah Sipot kat Klang. Dekat je, sebab tu gigih nak pergi gak. Makanan yg dihidangkan ialah mee goreng tanpa sayur (sebab Emie tak makan sayur) dan juga homemade carrot cake. Sedap!

Open House

Ni open house kat rumah sendiri. Makanan separuh katering dan separuh masak sendiri. Antara yang dikater ialah nasi briyani, ayam goreng, lauk nanas, kambing golek dan sate manakala hidangan sendiri ialah laksa Johor. Open house ni diadakan sehari sebelum konvokesyen IMU, so ramai la jugak yag hadir, termasuk orang Sarawak. Hehehe..

Wanji

Masa jalan2 kat Penang bersama family, sempat singgah rumah Wanji kat Nibong Tebal. Laksa utara menjadi hidangan. Selain itu ada kuih cincin dan juga kek puding hasil air tangan kakak Wanji. Kesian Wanji dan parent yang baru tiba di Penang pagi tu. Pagi2 aku dah kejut Wanji suruh bangun sebab kitorang nak datang.

Mirah

Hari ni beraya di Kajang pulak. Ada dua rumah, mula2 rumah Mirah then rumah Faiz pulak. Mirah masak nasi lemak. Oooo saja nak gemukkan aku balik yeeeee.. Hehehe.. Pastu ada jugak kek coklat dan juga tart blueberry yang sedap! :)

Faiz

Lepas beraya kat rumah Mirah, kitorang pergi rumah Faiz pulak yang terletak di Bukit Mahkota, lebih kurang 20 minit jugak la perjalanan walaupun Bukit Mahkota juga sebenarnya juga dialamatkan under Kajang. Sebagai anak jati Terengganu, Faiz menghidangkan keropok lekor dan juga tapai pulut yang dibalut dengan daun getah. Tapai ni kuat efek dia. Mirah sampai pening2, Kak Pah sampai tersasul banyak kali dan aku pulak jadi mengantuk gila. Faiz bubuh apa dalam tapai tuuuu? Cepat cakap!

Lukman

Lukman buat open house kat Senawang. Kitorang pergi lepas Emie balik kerja. Ramai budak IMU yang hadir pada malam tu, dah setahun tak jumpa korang tau. Menu malam tu ialah soto, mee goreng and murtabak.

 

Kak Pah

Last but not least, kitorang ke rumah Kak Pah yang terletak di Taman Melewar. Kak Pah sediakan menu istimewa iaitu Chicken Cordon Bleu. Sedappppppp! Ada nasi ayam jugak, merah betul ayamnya tapi tak pedas. Sempat main kejar2 dgn arnab Kak Pah yang malu2 manja. Selalu je lari menyorok bawak kerusi.

Ok, itu je update untuk kali ni. Thanks kawan2 yang sudi masak best2! Next year datang lagi yeeee.. Hehehe..

The Luck of the Irish Day 4 - Galway

Our last day in Galway was short. Ida brought us to see her university which has a very castle-like structure. The university is called National University of Ireland, Galway or also known as NUI Galway. Ida brought us for a quick tour in her university including to the famous Quadrangle. The building was very magnificent, preserved from the old times I guessed.

After the tour, we bid goodbye to Ida and we walked to the bus station. We're going to Dublin Airport to catch our flight back to Glasgow.

Alhamdulillah, what a journey we had. After finishing my final exam in May, we had quite a long trip. My parents came to Glasgow in June and then we had a trip to Prague, Vienna, Budapest and London. After that, my friends joined us for another trip to Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice, Zurich, Luzern, Interlaken and Geneva. We had our graduation after that. Few days later, my parents and I went on a final trip to Belfast, Dublin and Galway. Alhamdulillah again, for Allah have giving me opportunity to study in Glasgow and also protects us during our journey here and there.

The Luck of the Irish Day 3 - Galway

After having a scrumptious breakfast prepared by Ida, which was nasi lemak and ayam goreng berempah, we walked to Galway Coach Station. Today, our agenda was to join a bus tour to Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs are very famous and is a must visit place when you are in Galway. I had pre-purchased the tickets online and only needed to bring the printed receipt before the tour started.

The tour was supposed to start at 10 am but due to Volvo Ocean Race, the traffic was kinda bad and the bus arrived at the station a few minutes late. We only started our journey around 15 minutes later. Click here for Galway Tours website. The ticket only cost € 25 for adult and € 20 for student/senior citizen. The tour highlights were Cliffs of Moher, Dunguaire Castle, and many other nature wonder places.

Dunguaire Castle
This small and beautiful castle became our first stop. It was here that the rain started to fall down, luckily I brought my umbrella with me. My parents also brought their raincoats. We only visited the souvenir shop as the admission into the castle was not free. Plus, we were only given 20 minutes to wander around this area.

Poulnabrone Portal Tomb

We arrived at the stone under the heavy rain. Thanks umbrella for keeping me a bit wet. I should get one big umbrella like the one in kedai makan. Haha.. This site is historical, the stone assembled like a portal or should I say more like a table but in a slanting way. Since it was raining quite bad, I didn't bother to read the information about the tomb. However, I managed to capture some photos of the info.

Kilfenora
We stopped here for a while to see the big Celtic Crosses (Irish High Crosses). We had to walk on graveyards to reach into the ancient building. The crosses were preserved in a glass covered cover.

Doolin
We had our lunch break here. While the other tourists ate at the bar, my parents and I went to a nearby cafe and consumed our packed lunch. Ida had packed some briyani rice for our lunch. So we only ordered drinks from the cafe. We managed to buy some homemade chocolate at a shop near the cafe. The chocolates were definitely very delicious. I tried the white chocolate with cookies. I regretted not buying more because they were worth buying for.

Cliffs of Moher
Tadaaaa, finally we had reached our highlight for today. However, the weather was not very nice to us. It was very foggy and the rain kept on falling down. Cliffs of Moher is very famous and had become one of the filming location in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Other than that, it was also featured in Westlife's music video My Love.

The Burren - Lunar-like landscape
This place has a very magnificent view. The rocky floor and the seaside are definitely not to be missed when you joined this tour. We had a great time here although we were given 15 minutes. The weather was so cold with the strong breeze came from the sea. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Subhanallah!

Galway City
After finishing the whole tour with the bus, we were sent back to the city. Since the traffic was very bad, the bus had to stop somewhere and we walked a few metres to the coach station. Then, we directly went back to Ida's house in Shantalla because we need to catch up with the prayers. Ida just got home from her research when we arrived at the house.

Volvo Ocean Race
After performing the prayer, Ida brought me out again to watch the opening ceremony for Volvo Ocean Race. The city was now packed with crowd and we had to find way to avoid them. First, we went to festival-like place where there were a lot of rides and games to be played. There were some exhibition as well, among them was National University of Ireland, Galway (a place where Ida's studying tight now). The the opening ceremony, a lot of crowd were holding beers on their hand. Memang kitorang jalan laju2 bagi mengelakkan diri terkena simbahan arak berkenaan. Takut sangat kalau ada arak tu tertumpah kat baju. Busuk ok.

Then, Ida brought me to a restaurant to have dinner plus to celebrate our birthdays this year. We had calzone, carbonara and tiramisu. The tiramisu was quite nice, but I think my tiramisu is better. Lol

After having a round of meal, we walked back home since it was starting to dark outside. We didn't want to encounter drunk people in the middle of the night. It would be horror. D:
