Summer Trip Day 1 - London

At least 9 days of my summer had been filled with interesting agenda which is travelling! My friends and I already spent much times in planning and arranging our trip so that the trip went smoothly. This trip was also joined by my parents who came from Malaysia few days before.

Our first destination outside Scotland is London. We took a 9-hour bus which departed from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station at 4.15 am and reached Victoria Coach Station, London at about 2 pm. Since the journey was so long, we spent most our time in slumber. The first thing that we did was checking-in our hotel. My parents and I were staying in Travelodge Southwark while my housemates (Wanji & Duwe) stayed at Malaysian Hall, Queensborough Terrace. After resting for a while and performed our prayer, we headed to Westminster Abbey. For transportation, we majorly used tube (subway) because it was quite cheap especially when we bought one-day ticket. It costs about £6.60 (off-peak) or £8 (peak).

However, it was raining heavily that day. We waited there for a moment before we took a stroll along the Westminster Bridge to the other side of River Thames. Westminster Abbey is actually a big gothic church with a beautiful design. We snapped photos here and there even though the rains were still falling. We could see London Eye from here. It was gigantic, few times larger than Eye on Malaysia. It costs £18.60 if you want to ride London Eye. However, we gave it a pass because I think it was quite expensive and my parents also had no intention to ride it. Gayatttttt gitu.. Hihihi..

Underneath the London Eye, there are a few booths of souvenir shops. I'm interested in one of these shop because it has Harry Potter banner on it. When I entered the shop, OMG! They sell Harry Potter stuffs ranging from action figures, wands, Triwizard Cup, Hermione's time-turner, bookmarks and many more. They also sell London souvenirs such as t-shirts, fridge magnets, keyrings, stationery and others. I bought nothing here since I myself already got a lot of Harry Potter stuffs at home. Tak nak membazir gitu...

Our next destination was Tower Bridge. We took tube from Waterloo station to London Bridge. Near the station, there a souvenir shops which sell things at a very cheap price. Cheaper than the shops at London Eye. We arrived at the bridge at nearly dawn. So the scenery was stunting with yellow, orange and blue shades on the sky. We walked along the side of River Thames to the Tower Bridge itself. Along the way, huge and modern buildings could be observed. These are offices for people working in London. The designs are very eye catching with fountains in front of them. Then, we crossed the bridge to the other side and continued our journey to the nearest tube station. Our stomachs had been singing loudly along the long walk signalling for dinner time.

For dinner, we were planning to dine at Malaysian Hall cafe which is located under Malaysian Hall. We tried nasi lemak there and it was good. I tried it with beef rendang while some tried the fried chicken. The price were very reasonable, not too expensive like other Malaysian restaurants. *please don't convert it*

After finishing our meal, we headed back to our respective rooms for a deep night sleep.
