Wonderful Swiss Day 2 - Zurich

We had the whole morning 'free and easy' before continuing our journey to the next city, Luzern. Thus, I joined my friends to go to the city centre again hunting for souvenirs. Since there were lots of shops closed yesterday, today we went back to the Old Town because there are some souvenir shops there. Not so surprise, the price was very expensive. I had to close my eyes buying souvenirs and ignored the price tags. It's not everyday we could travel to Switzerland, thus we just bought whatever we wanted reasonably.

There's a park located at a hilly site in the city, Lindenhofplatz. We climbed a few steps there and enjoyed our moment for a while there. The weather was quite warm today with the sun shone brightly on top of our heads. From above, we could see some parts the city and the river as well. Many pigeons could be found around here.

After we got the things that we wanted and satisfied with the tour, we headed back to our hostel to pick up our luggage. Then, we're off to the train station to catch our next train to Luzern.

Wonderful Swiss Day 1 - Zurich

Alhamdulillah, finally I've finished writing about the Splash of Summer trip to Italy. Now I will continue writing about the second part of my trip after Italy which is about Switzerland. Switzerland is undeniably beautiful. The scenery was so calming and fantastic. Subhanallah..

After finishing our tour in Italy, we took a train to Zurich, Switzerland. The journey from Venice to Milan and then Milan to Zurich took more time than we had expected. This was due to the landslide that occurred to one of our route therefore we had to take different route. This included bus and short-distance trains. It was quite a journey. During the journey, we could observed the natural beauty of this country. The mountains, the greens and the view were absolutely beautiful and stunning!

However, we managed to arrive at Zurich HB and then searched for our hostel which was Zurich Youth Hostel. This hostel is located a bit further from the city centre. However, there is a train station nearby. Since we had Interrail passes, we could board the trains without limit.

After checking-in, we went out again for a quick city tour. Not much we did here except walking walking and walking. From the Zurich HB Station, we walked to the Old Town where the Great Church is located. We found a halal restaurant at the back street and it was quite tricky to find it. We had to ask from Muslims around there on where to find halal food around here. Things in Switzerland are generally quite pricey, that includes food and drinks.

This was where we had our dinner, Restaurant 1001. The food was okay but the price was not okay. We had shwarma which cost about 8 Swiss franc. My mom tried the nasi goreng which cost 14 Swiss franc but it tasted horrible. We could only tasted the weird spices and the rice was quite hard as well. The kebab was so-so only.

We continued walking back to the train station because it was nearly dusk. We found a Coop, which is a store selling groceries, food and other stuffs. We stopped there for a while and I bought some breads, drinks and souvenirs. The souvenirs here was quite cheap compared to the normal souvenir shops.

Then we headed back to our hostel seeking for beds. What a day.. :)
