My New Working Place

Assalamualaikum & Salam sejahtera.

Good luck! :)

Kota Kinabalu | Sabah [Part 1]

Assalamualaikum wbt & Have a good day peeps~

Looks like it had been months I last updated my blog. Well, that's because I'm still adapting to my new working place. Moving out from hospital to klinik kesihatan setting was totally new to me so I needed time to adapt myself.

Recently, I've been on a trip to Kota Kinabalu with my usual group of friends. I'm not going to write everything but I will highlight the places that we visited during the 4-day trip.

Tamparuli

Before we reached Kundasang, we passed by Tamparuli first. The most popular attractions here are Rumah Terbalik (Upside Down House) and also Jambatan Gantung (Suspension Bridge). We first visited the Rumah Terbalik as it is located just by the roadside. The entrance fee is RM10 (interior and exterior compound) and RM5 (for exterior compound only). The house is red in colour and it is surrounded by a restaurant, a cafe and a souvenir shop. We spent a few minutes here photographing the moment. As usual I spent a few bucks purchasing souvenirs which included postcards, magnet and keychains.

Jambatan Gantung Tamparuli is located a few minutes drive from the Rumah Terbalik. The bridge is located across the river where there is a market at the other side the bridge. However, the bridge for vehicle is only one-way system therefore we had to wait for turn to go to the opposite side. We parked the car at the market and climbed on the bridge. Not many tourists at the bridge at that time. Only us. So we got plenty of time to shoot photographs here. The only thing that I didn't like about this place is there are loads of dogs here.

Kundasang

Kundasang is probably the most popular and scenic place here in Sabah. People have been dying to visit this place. Why Kundasang is so popular? It's because the foot of Mount Kinabalu which is the tallest mountain in South East Asia is located here. Obviously the panorama is great and awesome (if the weather permits). To reach Kundasang, we drove 86 km from Kota Kinabalu and it took more than 2 hours to reach there. It was foggy at that time and driving through the fog on a mountain road was very challenging. However, we did enjoy the view along the way.

Tip of the day: Make sure you go out early in the morning to enjoy the view of Mount Kinabalu as the day goes on, more clouds will cover the view.

Desa Dairy Farm

Located in Kundasang, just a few minuts drive from our accommodation Kundasang Inn. We went there around 9 am after we had breakfast at a local restaurant.  Please note that the food here is kinda expensive. I had a portion of fried rice and fried noodles with sausages and drink for RM8. My friend had noodle soup with a drink for RM9.

The entrance to Desa Dairy Farm was RM4 per person. First we took photo around the entrance where the background is the Mount Kinabalu with a herd of cows sleeping at a further distance. Since it's still early in the morning, the cows weren't ready to roam around the farm. We took the chance to taste the chocolate milk and the yogurts made from the cows there. There is a souvenir shop here as well selling t-shirts, postcards, magnets, keychains and other stuffs. However, the ice cream only available after 11 am so we didn't get to try it.

Kundasang War Memorial

Entrance ticket only RM2. When we reached here it was suddenly raining so badly so we stayed in the car for a moment. When the rain slowed down, then only we got out the car and went into the memorial. This place is full of history. The only interesting thing for me here is the pillar structures which are aligned along a long pond. It was nice.

Poring Hot Spring

We drove to Poring where we passed by Ranau. We had lunch at Ranau. Poring is located quite far from Kundasang. It took approximately 1 hour if I'm not mistaken (because it's my turn to drive). The entrance fee is RM4 or was it RM3? Who cares as long it was too damn expensive. Haha.. First, we walked across a river on a stone bridge towards the hot spring area. A lot of half naked people under the huts where they could play with the water. There were two pipes in the pool; one for hot water and another for cold water. Thus, we can adjust the water to the temperature that we comfortable with.

However, we didn't soak our legs or bathe in the water. Instead, we walked deeper into the area where we found a canopy walkway entrance. It cost RM3 per person with RM5 fee for camera. What a weird fee, we paid more for our camera than for ourselves. We walked and climbed the stairs up into the area where we could see people lining up for the walkway. We did enjoy ourselves up there except for our gayat friend. Haha..
