More Summer Trip Day 1 - Birmingham

Assalamualaikum wbt, today I'm gonna continue writing about my not-so-recent trip to Birmingham, England. We went there by Virgin train which cost only £5. I guessed I was quite lucky when booking the train. Actually I was browsing through Megabus website to find a bus journey, however the results also showed the availability of the Virgin train (aka Megatrain). Thus, I grabbed the tickets as soon as I confirmed it with my fellow Harry Potter fan-friends.

Actually, Birmingham was just our quick stop before we're heading to our main intention which was to visit Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford. The studio was recently opened during spring. We took the 10 am train from Glasgow Central to Birmingham New Street. The journey took 4 hours.

As soon as we reached Birmingham, we wandered around the city searching for interesting places to visit. Well, Birmingham basically is just another big city in England, thus walking around was kinda easy. There's maps and signboards everywhere. First, we went to The Mailbox. It's a shopping mall selling exclusive items. Since it looked kinda luxurious and expensive, we made a u-turn back to the train station. Around that area, there lies Victoria Square, which is one of the significant landmark in Birmingham. There were so many people here, enjoying the bright sunshine.

We stopped for a coffee break at Costa, New Street. We already had our lunch in the train. The girls brought sandwiches and fried rice. Thanks girls! =)

We toured the city centre looking for souvenirs but we only got postcards that we bought from WHSmith. Maybe Birmingham doesn't have many landmarks that could be moulded into a fridge magnets. As we were walking, suddenly we saw a Hello Kitty booth. Thus, Fyruz bought some magnets as she is very into Hello Kitty. Plus, we accidentally saw our hotel here. We had booked Travelodge Moor Street which only cost £29.90 per night.

After checking-in and performing our prayers, we went back outside. Near the Moor Street, there is a giant unique shopping mall called Bullring. I heard that this mall is quite famous among architecture students due to its design and structure. So we went window shopping inside this big mall. We didn't really buy anything. Since this complex was named Bullring, it's possible to have a bull around here. Poofs! There's a bull statue outside this mall, wearing a United Kingdom clothes.

We had our dinner at Baquette du Monde. It's a halal cafe selling panini, burgers and Movenpick ice creams. I ordered tandoori chicken panini. Only baquette with chicken, no veggies or cheese. Maybe they forgot or it's like that. Plus, it's kinda pricey. £4 per panini.. *rolling eyes*. Tak kenyang pun, balik hotel makan benda lain pulak. Shopped for some food from Tesco downstairs.

Tomorrow gonna be very exciting! We're gonna visit Hogwarts!

XD
